Wine Bars in Brussels: Un des Sens
With the sun back in Brussels, this weekend was all about enjoying life on terraces. We tried local beer bars, we tried local wine bars.Initially I didn't like Un des Sens too much. No explanation, just a first gut feeling. Then yesterday we thought it might be a good idea to give this bar a second chance. And I have to admit my first impression was all wrong: I loved the bar, the laid back atmosphere, the choice of wines by the glass or by the bottle, the sun outside.
Prices for a glass of wine range between 2.50euro and 6.00euro. Prices for the bottles of wine, which can be bought in the bar/ restaurant, range from 5.00euro and 10.50euro - which for a decent bottle of wine is peanuts.
Not leaving without trying some wine, we ended up buying a bottle of Spanish (Alicante) A 1 - Murvedre 2002, which I can only but recommend. The spices were right, slightly peppery, with an incredible smooth finish once left to air. And a bottle of Argentinian Ray de la Luna - Malbec, 2002. This is still waiting to be opened.
